Michael Jackson’s Signature shows huge Personality Changes

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson’s signature reveals more about his personality than most people realize

Signatures can tell us quite a lot about a writer’s personality – and this is particularly true in the case of Michael Jackson.

Let’s take a look at a few of his signatures to see how they reflect the changes as they occur in his personality. To begin with, I have chosen one of his earlier signatures to show you what I mean.

Notice how it starts off being rather simple and practical. The letters are legible and clear.

The signature lacks sophistication but it is an  honest reflection of his personality at the  time.

However, even at this early stage you can see just by looking at the large end strokes that there is an element of showiness and a desire for attention.

The capitals are already much larger than the body of the writing – he needs and craves recognition.

A Later Signature

Now if you take a look at the second signature you can easily see how different it is from the first one.

Notice how angular it is in comparison with the earlier more rounded one.

But even more striking is the huge difference between the tiny body of the signature and the soaring upper zone that seems to reach into the stratosphere.

Then notice how it plummets from great heights into great depths as well. Depression and euphoria were never far away.

Michael Jackson’s tragedy was that his real life and the world of his dreams could never meet. They were poles apart.

The tiny body of the signature reflects his dissatisfaction with his ordinary, earth-bound self while the soaring upper zone reflects his boundless aspirations. It was all about the things he wanted to do and the things that he still hoped to achieve.

Unfortunately his aspirations were so high that they caused him to lose touch with reality.  More and more, he began to inhabit a strange world of fantasy until it became his reality.

Now take a look at the circle which takes centre stage in his signature.  This is a symbolic expression of his attitude to dancing. It’s as if he felt that his music and dancing were all-encompassing and could bring everything together and turn his world into a better place.

But Michael Jackson’s amazing success was not only due to his musical and dancing talent. It was a personality thing as well.

He was certainly versatile. But in addition to that, his physical, mental and emotional agility, coupled with his soaring aspirations and his driving ambition combined to make him the legend that he was.

Michael Jackson’s Signature and his Romantic Outlook

Michael Jackson romantic outlook impacted on every aspect of his life. Not only did he wear fantastic costumes – he even changed his physical appearance to fit in with his romantic vision.

His ranch was also designed to reflect the romantic life-style he so admired. He wanted to remain a  boy forever so he crafted Neverland to be like the fictional home of Peter Pan whose wish it was never to grow up.

And so his ranch became the embodiment of his dreams – a place where no-one would grow old and where dreams would blend with reality.

Michael Jackson was not satisfied with what he was born to.  So he altered his appearance and his personality.  He changed his whole being in order to become more like the fictional romantic heroes he so admired.

He envisioned himself as a heroic figure like the ones in fairy tales where knights and princes wore wondrous outfits and performed fantastic deeds. He saw himself in the role of a dashing romantic hero who would use his talents to turn his dreams into reality for his millions of fans.

These are only two little signatures – but would you have thought that they could reveal so much?
